Questions About Land Clearing, Grading and Site Work Around Charlotte

These are the questions Charlotte-area homeowners and builders ask us most: how pricing works, how a clearing or grading job runs, permits, where the dirt and debris go, timelines, and how estimates work. If yours is not here, call and we will answer it.

How do you price a job?
Price comes from the size of the dig, the access, how much material moves and where it goes. A pool dig in a tight backyard prices differently than an open lot regrade. Rock, wet ground and haul distance move the number too. Estimates are free, so call (980) 315-5707 and we will come look at the site.
What areas do you work in?
We are based in Indian Trail, in Union County on the east side of Charlotte. We work the Charlotte metro and about 40 miles around us. That takes in Charlotte, Matthews, Monroe, Waxhaw, Weddington, Mint Hill, Stallings, Pineville, Huntersville, Concord and Harrisburg. On the South Carolina side we work Fort Mill, Tega Cay, Rock Hill and Indian Land.
Do you work with home builders and general contractors?
Yes. We do site work for home builders, general contractors, developers and commercial property owners. That covers lot clearing, building pads, footings, utility trenching and the first grade that sets drainage. We work straight for homeowners on backyard jobs too.
Who pulls the permits?
The permit normally stays in the property owner or general contractor's name. We can tell you what the job usually needs and put the site details together for the application. Land-disturbance permits come through the county or city program, so check with your local office. Utility locates go in through NC811 before we dig.
How long does a job take?
A pool dig or a small yard grade is often a day or two. Clearing an acre, a site prep job or a bigger grade runs longer. Residential demolition usually takes one to three days. Rain moves the schedule, since wet clay slows the equipment down.
Do you excavate for swimming pools?
Yes. We dig the hole for new inground pools, to the pool builder's plan and depth. The pool builder builds the pool, and we handle the dirt around it. See what a pool dig covers for access, spoils, backfill and the grade for the deck.
What happens to the dirt, brush and debris?
Spoils from a dig leave the property on our dump trucks. Brush, stumps and demolition material get hauled off the same way. Some owners want clean fill kept on site for grading, and we do that by agreement. We can also bring in fill dirt, gravel and stone for the work.
What else do you handle besides digging and grading?
We take houses, garages, sheds and old slabs down, see residential and light commercial demolition. We build segmental block retaining walls for slopes and erosion control. Farm ponds, stormwater ponds, yard drainage and hauling are ours as well.
